For many years, I’ve typically used two kinds of ink when I’ve screen printed on garments: water based and Plastisol. There are advantages and challenges to using both. I’ve often thought to myself how I wish there was a sustainable ecologically friendly ink that I could use.
A few months ago, I found what I was looking for: water based Algae Ink. I ran several tests, and then I met the guys who started a very unique and fantastic football club in New York City. Their club is called New York International Football Club. They were looking for a simple shirt that featured their crest. I printed a few T-shirts like that using Algae Ink. I wore and washed them several times. The only way that I could truly tell if these were effective and lived up to my hopes was to see how these prints sustained for months. To my delight, they looked as good 6 months later as they did the moment they were printed. To put it simply, this was a wonderful development for Main Engine Press.
Now, you can get your own. These T-shirts are printed on heather gray tri-blends from Alternative Apparel. They are ecologically friendly and super soft. The print is durable, soft, long-lasting, and looks great.
